  1. Kameko, ridden by Oisin Murphy for trainer Andrew Balding, has won the first UK flat classic of the delayed 2020 season, the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket - click here to see all the previous winners of the race.

Pinatubo, the favourite who won all his six races as a two-year-old, led going into the closing stages but was overtaken by runner-up Wichita who was pipped by the 10/1 shot winner in the last 100 metres.

Kameko has been installed as the favourite for the Epsom Derby on 4th July.

  2. Favourite Ghaiyyath won the first Group 1 contest of the UK flat racing season at Newmarket in fine style.

William Buick's mount led the mile-and-a-half contest from start to finish, with 2019 Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck closing at the finish but not good enough to catch the Charlie Appleby trained five-year-old.

The race was transferred from its usual venue, Epsom Downs, due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
