Autumn Nations Cup - The Trophy Room
Staged in November/December 2020, this was designed to be a one-off tournament in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which had prevented Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa from travelling to the northern hemisphere to fulfill the annual Autumn Internationals.
Two Groups of four nations - England, Georgia, Ireland and Wales in one and Fiji, France, Italy and Scotland in the other - contested round-robin matches before the corresponding team in each section took each other on in a play-off match. All Fiji's Group games were cancelled due to positive Covid-19 tests in their camp.
England beat France in the final at Twickenahm Stadium in London in sudden-death extra time. Ireland came third, Scotland fourth, Wales firth, Italy sixth, Fiji seventh and Georgia eighth. All matches in the tournament were played behind closed doors.
