  1. England's Justin Rose won golf's San Diego Open in California, USA with a new tournament record score.
    Rose, the 2019 winner, finished on 23-under-par at Torrey Pines to clinch his 13th PGA Tour title by seven strokes from American Pierceson Coody, South Korea's Si Woo Kim and Ryo Hisatsune of Japan, who were tied in second place.
    The previous best winning score in the tournament's history was 22 under, by Tiger Woods in 1999 and George Burns in 1987.

  2. Spain's Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam in tennis after beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5 in the final of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
    Alcaraz has won all the top four major trophies at the age of 22, beating fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal's record by two years, and now has seven major titles.
    Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina won the women's title, defeating Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the final, to clinch her second Grand Slam crown.
