Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy claimed golf's Players Championship title for the second time in his career at Sawgrass in Florida, USA.
McIlroy, who won the tournament in 2019, beat American JJ Spaun in a three-hole play-off after the pair finished tied on 12-under-par. Three more USA golfers - Tom Hoge, L:ucas Glover and Akshay Bhatia - came joint-third, two shots behind the leaders.

Ireland-trained Inothewayurthinkin won horse racing's Cheltenham Gold Cup by six lengths to deny another Irish horse, second-placed 2023 & 2024 winner Galopin Des Champs, an historic hat-trick. Gentlemansgame was third.
Ridden by Mark Walsh for trainer Gavin Cromwell, the winner had only been added to the race as a supplementary entry six days earlier at a cost of £25,000. The first prize was £280,000.
