France's Fiona Ferro beat Estonian Anett Kontaveit in straight sets (6-2, 7-5) to win the first WTA event in five months in Palermo, Sicily.

The tournament was the first official event for either men or women held since the season was suspended in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is Ferro's second WTA Tour win after her Swiss Open triumph in 2019.
