Golf - Byron Nelson Championship
This event is held each May in the state of Texas, USA. Since 1968 it has been named after a former leading PGA Tour player, who was the first winner of the corresponding tournament when it was called the Texas Victory Open. Initially it was the Byron Nelson Classic. The suffix "Championship" was adopted in 2003.
It has always been staged in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The venues have been:
Lakewood (1944), Dallas Country Club (1945), Brook Hollow (1946), Preston Hollow (1956), Glen Lake (1957), Oak Cliff (1958-67), Preston Trail (1968-72), Las Colinas Sports Club (1983-85), TPC at Las Colinas (1986-2017), Trinity Forest (2018 & 2019), TPC Craig Ranch (2021-)
From 1994-2007 the first two rounds were shared with Cottonwood Valley at Las Colinas.
There was no tournament staged in 1963 due to Dallas hosting the US PGA Championship or in 2020 (Covid-19 pandemic).
