Football - European Championship
French Football administrator Henri Delaunay was the visionary who developed a tournament to decide the champion national team of Europe. Other continents had already taken this step, but the part of the world that was the driving force behind the formal organisation of the sport was slow to follow suit. Delaunay managed to persuade his European colleagues about the merits of the event, and trophy was named in his honour.
