  1. Webb Simpson claimed victory in the second event staged since the PGA Tour restarted, at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

Simpson shot a 64 in the final round, with five birdies in the final seven holes, to win in a tournament record 22 under-par.

Simpson's fellow American Abraham Ancer shot a 65 as he finished second one stroke behind.

England's Tyrrell Hatton and last week's winner, Daniel Berger (USA), finished two shots behind Simpson in joint-third.

The tournament at the Harbour Town Links was three hours behind schedule because of a storm on the South Carolina coast.

  2. Frankie Dettori took his awesome personal tally to 73 winners at Royal Ascot with a Group 1 double in the Coronation Stakes and St James's Palace Stakes and victory in the earlier Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes.

Having ridden Campanelle to victory in the Queen Mary, Dettori guided the Jessica Harrington-trained Alpine Star to success in the Coronation in fine style by an extended four lengths and then, just 35 minutes later, 4-1 Palace Pier shocked favourite Pinatubo in the St James's Palace.

However, Dettori just failed to make it a quadruple when Sceptical found Hello Youmzain and jockey Kevin Stott just too good in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
