Golf - National Tournament
This event got its name from its traditional postion on the PGA Tour calendar, on the first weekend of July coinciding with the United States Independence Day celebrations. The venue was the Blue Course of the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland - close to the seat of national government in Washington, DC. In 2010 & 2011, it was played at Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania due to work being carried out on Congressional in preparation for the 2011 US Open hosted there. It was held at the Robert Trent Jones course in Gainesville, Virginia in 2015 and at the TPC Potomac in Avenel Farm, Maryland in 2017. It left the tour in 2019.
