Rugby - Lansdowne Cup
First contested in 1999, this cup was donated to the Irish Rugby Football Union by the Lansdowne club in Sydney, Australia to be contested by the two nations. The Lansdowne Club is named after the famous home of Irish rugby - Lansdowne Road. Prior to the Lansdowne Cup era, Australia had beaten Ireland 11 times and lost six matches, with no draws since they first met in 1927.
