Golf - PGA Tour Championship
Inaugurated in 1987, prior to 2007 this was an event exclusively for the top 30 prize money winners of the PGA Tour season, which runs from October the previous calendar year. There is no 36-hole cut.
In 2007 it moved from a November slot to mid-September and became the final event of the PGA Tour Playoffs, involving the top 30 on the points list. It currently takes place each August. The Tour Championship winner receives the Calamity Jane, a silver commemorative replica of golf legend Bobby Jones' original putter. The event has found a permanent home since 2004 at East Lake, Atlanta.
