  1. Portugal beat Spain in a penalty shootout to win football's men's UEFA Nations League final in Munich, Germany, their second triumph in the event's history.
    It finished 2-2 at full time, and there were no goals in the extra half-an-hour, but Portugal slotted all their five spot kicks, while goalkeeper Diogo Costa stopped Alvaro Morata's attempt, the fourth Spanish kick, as his side won the tie-break 5-3.

  2. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain recovered from two sets down, saving three championship points, to beat Italy's Jannik Sinner 4-6 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (10-2) after five hours and 29 minutes in the longest ever Roland Garros men's singles final in Paris.
    The day before, American Coco Gauff won a first Roland Garros singles title of her career, beating Belarus' world number one Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-4.
