  1. American Noah Lyles came from last to first to win the Men's Olympic 100m Final by five-thousandths of a second from Jamaica's Kishane Thompson at Stade de France in a personal best 9.79 seconds.
    Thompson was awarded the same time, but had to settle for silver by the finest of margins. USA's former world champion Fred Kerley took bronze in 9.81 seconds.
    Elsewhere on day nine,
     hosts France broke their record for medals at a single Games with a 44th, a bronze in the Men's foil fencing team finals, and Serbia's Novak Djokovic beat Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz to secure the Men's Singles tennis title at Roland-Garros and complete a career 'Golden Slam', after his record 24 majors.

  2. St Lucia sprinter Julien Alfred won the Women's Olympic 100m title at Stade de France in Paris, her country's first Olympic medal, in a time of 10.72 seconds. American world champion Sha'Carri Richardson took silver in 10.87, with compatriot Melissa Jefferson (10.92) third.
    At La Defense Arena, American swimmer Katie Ledecky equalled the record held by former Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina for the most gold medals won by a female Olympian (nine) and became the only woman with four Olympic golds in the same event as she triumphed in the 800m freestyle. 
    Ledecky has an overall tally of 14 medals, second only to another American swimmer, Michael Phelps (28, including 23 golds).
    Elsewhere on day eight, American gymnast Simone Biles won her third Gold of the Games in the Women's Vault, while Ireland's Rhys McClenaghan and Phillippines' Carlos Edriel Yulo won their respective countries' first ever medals in Gymnnastics, both Gold, and Belgian Remco Evenepoel won the Men's Cycling Road Race to become the first male to win both that event and the Time Trial at the same Games.
    China's Zheng Quinwen won the Women's Singles tennis, China won Gold and Silver in both the Women's Singles and Doubles, Netherlands, Germany, Romania and Great Britain claimed the final Rowing Golds,
