  1. England's Ross McGowan ended an 11-year wait for a European Tour title with a one-shot win at the Italian Open in San Vigilio di Pozzolengo, Brescia.

    Fellow Englishman Laurie Canter and Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts finished joint-second.

    McGowan, the 38-year-old world number 560, had not clinched a tour win since the Madrid Masters in 2009.

  2. Judd Trump, England's world snooker number one, made a century break in the deciding frame to beat Australian Neil Robertson 9-8 in he English Open final in Milton Keynes. It is Trump's 18th ranking title.

    Trump has won his last 10 consecutive ranking finals, He reached the final after beating John Higgins 6-4 in the semi-finals Robertson progressed after winning 6-5 against Mark Selby,
