HORSE RACING - Siskin delivers at The Curragh
Posted on
Trainer Ger Lyons won the first big race of the delayed 2020 Irish flat racing season, the 2,000 Guineas, with the unbeaten Siskin in blustery conditions at The Curragh. It was Lyons' first victory in any classic.
Aidan O'Brien put out six of the 11 horses and it was his Fort Myers who made the running, setting the pace for Lope Y Fernandez to hit the front inside the final two furlongs but it was Siskin, under jockey Colin Keane, who delivered the prize with a stunning burst in the final stages.
