Gilbert wins first title

England's David Gilbert cwon his first snooker ranking title with a 3-1 win over Mark Allen of Northern Ireland in the Championship League final.

Gilbert turned professional in 1999 and turned 40 in June.

Chelsea start season with cup

Chelsea beat Villarreal 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out to win the UEFA Super Cup for a second time at Windsor Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Hakim Ziyech scored for the London-based Champions League winners in the first half but Gerard Moreno equalised for the Spanish Europa League title-holders in the 73rd minute. It finished 1-1 at 90 minutes and there was no further scoring in extra time.
